Terrible/Terrific Twos

Wow. Talk about swinging between two extemes. As the "Terrible Twos" swing into full effect (a few seasoned parents have cautioned us that the age of Three is actually worse), Haley spends quite a bit of time at one end or the other. On the "Terrible" side, her tantrums are fierce, and we've established that she plans to have one a day. Whoo. This must be where the term "knock down, drag out" comes from. And its usually about something innoccuous. Yesterday it was because she didn't want her wet diaper changed, despite the appearance that it was bothering her.

On the other side of the spectrum, I don't think I've enjoyed her more. She is so full of energy. In general, she is a very happy kid, spending a good deal of the day dancing, singing, and running around. As an indication that we're not doing too bad a job as parents, some of her favorite mimicked phrases are "Good job" and "You did it!"

By way of a general update, we are inching ever closer to being potty trained. She uses her potty at least once a day now, and seems generally upset when she has a wet diaper. We are also FINALLY getting past her fascination with The Wiggles and Maisy. (Thank goodness!) Her new favorite video to watch is Cinderella, which we've watched at least once a day since I brought it home from the WalMart. (Nicole can sing all of the songs in her sleep.) Her new favorite book series is Clifford The Big Red Dog. Her favorite toy is still her Cookie Monster, despite a waning interest in Sesame Street as a whole.

And lastly, as Oct 31st creeps closer, Haley is really liking this "Trick-Or-Treat" concept. We've been practicing with some small pieces of candy on nights where she eats a good dinner. I think the only problem we're going to run into is that Haley has a tendancy to sit down in the exact spot she receives the candy to investigate, unwrap, and eat it. So we'll have to work on that.
