Haley And Zoe's Web

Hello and welcome to Haley and Zoe's Web! For the uninitiated, this is a weblog (more commonly known as a "blog"), which is an online journal that is available for anyone to read. Haley and Zoe are growing up so fast that we wanted a way for all of you to keep up with their day-to-day advances. So pull up a chair and brace yourself for the cuteness to follow.

Pronouns

You never realize how complicated it is to learn language concepts until you witness the mistakes toddlers make... Haley is trying to learn pronouns, but she's having difficulty with the concept of "me" and "you". Since we point to her and say "you" (as in "Who's the cutest baby ever? You are!"), she now points to herself and says "you" very proudly... This is a tough one to explain!

On the other hand, Haley is mastering the possessive rather nicely. Rather than the traditional "Mine" that toddlers typically embrace, Haley takes pride in naming objects' proper owners. She saw Daddy writing on some paper this morning, so later that day she pointed to the notepad and said "Dadas paper". She loves to identify objects in that manner. When she has claimed something for herself, she speaks in the 3rd person: "Haley's cup".

Other new words include muffin, bacon, egg (as in the plastic variety from her Easter basket), chicken (the bird, not the meat) and clothes. Her pronunciation is getting a lot better, too; chances are, the next time you see Haley, you won't need me or Bill to translate...
