Big Ol' Update - Feb 06
Hi all! Sorry we haven't been very good about updating the blog for the past month or so. As you can see from the previous post, there is alot going on around here. Both Nicole and the baby are doing well, but Nicole has had a tough time with the morning sickness and tiredness that are common for the first trimester. I'll try to keep frequent updates in the blog as the pregnancy progresses.
Another reason for the tardiness of the blog recently is that we've had several visitors over the past month. Bunny and Grumpa (Cindy and Tom) came out to stay with us for a little over a week to look at houses for their eventual move to CO. While they looked at houses all over the state, they have made an offer on a house that is within walking distance of our home. (Its not in the same neighborhood, but just across the main road.) With another child on the way, we welcome the close proximity of some helping hands and the built in baby-sitting service. The comparisons to Everybody Loves Raymond have already been made in abundance. : )
Our friend Stefanie also visited last weekend, giving Nicole some much needed time away from her daily barrage of tantrums, Blues Clues, and Hide-and-Seek. Haley also enjoyed spending time with Stef. She seemed to really like the sound of Stefanie's name, and used it repeatedly. A typical conversation would go something like:
"Stefanie?"
"Yes, Haley"
(Giggle)
"Stefanie?"
"Yes, Haley"
(Giggle)
Repeat for the duration of car ride.
We also celebrated Valentines Day this past week. We were hoping to sit down with Haley and have her make paper valentines, but it never materialized. She still enjoyed the day, and got her fair share of cards, presents, and candy. (As a parent, you realize that most holidays involve candy in some way.) While she enjoyed all of her gifts, the big winner was a stuffed polar bear she received from Great-Grandma Carry (Vicki's mom). It just so happens that one of her favorite books recently has a polar bear in it, and she caught part of an Animal Planet special about polar bears on TV. The polar bear has temporarily replaced Cookie Monster as the toy she carts with her everywhere. Those of you that read this blog regularly will realize what a big coup that really is.
Finally, by way of a general update of all things Haley, she can recite the whole alphabet (but still says "enna enna P" instead of "LMNOP") and can sorta count to 20 (she misses 14 and 15, and says 12 twice). Her show of choice is Blues Clues and favorite book is If You Give A Mouse A Cookie. Favorite food is "Funny Face" pancakes (pancakes made to look like a smiley face with grapes and a strip of bacon), her favorite treat is lollipops. She has successfully gone "Number 2" on the potty every day for over two weeks, and is doing pretty well sitting on the potty in general.
As a preview of things to come, today Haley went with Nicole and the rest of the "Mom's Group" to see her first movie on the big screen - Curious George. I'll have Nicole post a blog about how that went later in the week.
