Haley And Zoe's Web

Hello and welcome to Haley and Zoe's Web! For the uninitiated, this is a weblog (more commonly known as a "blog"), which is an online journal that is available for anyone to read. Haley and Zoe are growing up so fast that we wanted a way for all of you to keep up with their day-to-day advances. So pull up a chair and brace yourself for the cuteness to follow.

Haley-To-English Dictionary

Haley amazes me with her vast vocabulary and speaking abilities. But I'd be lying if I didn't get a big kick out of the stuff she says incorrectly too. Here are some of my recent favorites.

OpieMeal - Oatmeal
Cimmamum - Cinnamon
Optocus - Octopus
HippiePollyMoose - Hippopotamus
Reel Kick - Real quick (As in "I'm gonna go get my dolly... reel kick!")
ToppyKo Burd - Tropical Bird
CaseyDaiYuh - Quesadilla
Fooshie - Thirsty (As in "I drink all my apple juice! I was fooshie!")
Sepid - Seperate (As in "I don't want the cracker and cheese together... I want it sepid.")
EnaEnaP - LMNOP (As in "...HIJK... EnaEnaP... QRS...")
Foon - Spoon
F*ck - Fork (No, I didn't accidentally teach her any swear words. Thats just how she says "fork". Which is why we encourage her to use a "foon" in public.)
Canays - Crayons
Meekolat - Ricola

A bit of explanation on that last one. Remember the Ricola throat lozenge commericals from 1990s TV? It featured Swiss Alphorn players (Yes, thats what they're called. I googled it!) who had coughs yelling "Riiiicooola" from the moutaintops. We were playing with empty wrapping paper rolls this past Chritmas and Nicole was making fun of those old commercials by yelling "Riiiicooolaaa" into the tubes. Haley thought this was great! She laughed and tried to mimic Nicole. But she must have heard the word wrong, because she brought the cardboard tube to her lips and sung out "MEEEEKOOOLAAAAT". It must have been 10 full minutes before Nicole and I stopped laughing.
