Assassins In Lavender
There is a restaurant that Nicole and I like to go to for breakfast in Louisville called Huckleberrys. We like to go there for the food, but Haley seems to enjoy their "Treasure Chest" where kids get to pick out a small toy for free. Usually, she picks out a piece of plastic jewelry or a super-bounce ball. This past trip she apparently wanted to mix things up a bit. To our surprise she picked out a plastic purple ninja action figure carrying a large katana sword. (I don't remember the deadly stealth assassins of feudal Japan wearing such vibrant colors, but I'm guessing that the toy manufacturer wasn't striving for historical accuracy here.) In any event, Haley lovingly referred to her new toy as "man". As in, "Daddy... man is purple." I quickly corrected her. "Thats no ordinary 'man'... thats a NINJA!" She took this under consideration, but said nothing in reply. My comments must have sunk in because Purple Ninja was the toy of choice for the remainder of the day. She treats Purple Ninja with the same motherly love she gives her dolls. "Purple Ninja, you want applejuice?" "Purple Ninja, want watch little TV?" "Purple Ninja, you want go downstairs?" "Haley big hug Purple Ninja." Looks like Barbie has some competition.
