Bye-bye Baby Tyler!
We were sad to see Baby Tyler, Uncle Scott and Auntie Pamela leave this morning - no matter how much time we spend together with family, it always seems too soon when it's time to say goodbye. We had a great visit overall, with lots of amusing interaction between Ty and Haley. Haley enjoyed the extra attention, of course, and needed lots of distractions today to keep from missing everyone. The first thing she said to me when I walked in the door after taking them to the airport was "Uncle Slot (Scott)?" So sad...
As follow-up to Bill's entry below, our last day began full of good intentions, only to go awry. We had planned on going out to breakfast, then to a paint-your-own-pottery place to get a footprint of Ty and a plate for Haley to decorate. Ty fell asleep while we were prepping to get out the door, and apparently meant business. He woke up in the car and to take advantage of his wakefulness, we decided to do the pottery place first. Too late, we discovered it had closed its doors permanently in the last few weeks. So off to breakfast. But on the way, Ty convinced us that it truly was his naptime, so we changed plans and went home for a late breakfast/early lunch. The kids both took their naps (at the same time!!! whoo-hoo!) but by the time they both woke up, it was time for Haley's doctor's visit (unexplainable rash on her face - turns out it's fine and not contagious). I had car trouble on the way to the doc's so was really in a foul mood upon returning home. Decided to order Chinese food. Finally got our order together only to discover upon phoning it in that our fave restaurant was closed for a few days for kitchen repair. Will nothing go right? The lesson to be learned by all this is, it pays to be flexible, especially with kids. Despite all the drama, we had a nice day together - played Trivial Pursuit during naptime, had a nice dinner (new Chinese restaurant), and enjoyed amiable conversation (and a little ribbing) after the kids went to bed. Always look on the bright side!
